Correct Syntax for FQL

I'm currently working on a facebook app where I have had to use Coldfusion as the main programming language. I'm finding it quite frustrating that NO WHERE on the internet, including the facebook developer website have they given a single example of the COMPLETE syntax for writing an fql statement. What I mean by a complete syntax is which tags do I actually need to encapsulate the query in? like all fbml statements are enclosed in <fb:fbml></fb:fbml> which tags do I need to use to encapsulate fql statements in?

All I'm trying to do is write an fql statement which would return the userids of all the 'friends' that the app invitation is being sent to...

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

heya, I've not used FQL myself, but the documentation looks like they dont need any tags.

as in, just form your FQL string and pass it to the fql.query api method. php example:

$query = "YOUR QUERY HERE"; //(see above examples)
$array = $facebook->api_client->fql_query($query);

from sample queries (unfortunately all in php, but the fql string syntax will be the same)
