The library grew to the point that it is hard to maintain and was designed when Facebook's api was different and types of applications being developed were different. We have considered changes that would make things easier, but after discussion with Microsoft and after examining the new sdk that has been published by some of our colleagues in the community, we feel that the new library provides a very solid and flexible approach to building facebook apps and seems that it will be easier to maintain moving forward. We are planning to lend our support however we can to the new sdk listed below. Thanks to everyone who has invested their time and effort into supporting this library over the years. I am sure that the leaders of the new library would appreciate the feedback and support that we have gotten.

New SDK can be found here: http://facebooksdk.codeplex.com/documentation

The new SDK has been completely retooled and it incorporates Facebook’s latest capabilities like the Graph API and REST API Calls.
Official Release: Version 3.0.2!

The main goals driving the release of version 3.0 were:
•	Provide better doc and samples
•	Provide support for Silverlight
•	Provide support for ASP.NET MVC
•	Provide improved support for WPF
•	Provide improved support for FBML (FBML Server Controls)
•	Provide a login control that can be used to replace the BasePage and/or MasterPage for Canvas Development
•	Improve out of the box support for Extended Permission Prompts
•	Refactor core source to improve maintainability and design
•	Fix known bugs
As part of this, we worked closer with the Developer Division at Microsoft to help design the Silverlight and WPF support. Also, after discussions with Microsoft it was decided that the namespaces and methods should be updated again to be more consistent with traditional .NET apis. This will cause some breaking changes to everyone as they move to 3.0. But, the main goal is that we wanted to get it right this time so that this could become an officially supported client library. Microsoft is working with Facebook to get the toolkit identified as the officially supported library. The plan is to provide real-time support and updates to keep the toolkit in synch with the Facebook API.

We also now have the help documentation available online (in addition to the chm files that is published with the release). You can view the help documentation here,http://facebook.claritycon.com/help, also there is a new section on the msdn supporting the toolkit http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/ee388574.aspx

About
Clarity Consulting Inc. http://www.claritycon.com developed the original Facebook Developer Toolkit for the Microsoft Visual Studio Express Team. We have seen great feedback and suggestions for improving the code base. We worked with Microsoft on an idea to keep the code relevant and up to date for all the Facebook Developers. Together we decided that hosting the source here on CodePlex will be the best way to track items and allow community involvement in the source. We encourage everyone to get involved.

We would like to thank Microsoft for the great support they are giving this project, and the effort they are willing to commit to helping us keep the library up to date.

We would like to encourage everyone to please use the Issue Tracker to create new features and vote for existing issues/features. We use this to prioritize our work load, and to determine if we should make changes. The more votes, the more often we will update the code.

If you are interested in contributing code, have made changes on your own, or would like to have more involvement in the project, please contact one of the project coordinators listed on the People page. Community involvement drives this project, and your support is greatly appreciated.

Quick Start Guides

Who's Using the Toolkit

FAQ

New Comment on "Who's Using the Toolkit"

DealieDo is a free Facebook app that delivers targeted coupons and special offers without spam.
http://apps.facebook.com/dealiedo/
http://www.dealiedo.com

New Comment on "Who's Using the Toolkit"

PhotoSurfer - Free photo viewer and editor for families with a digital camera. Community involvement drives this project, and your support is greatly appreciated.

Quick Start Guides

Who's Using the Toolkit

FAQ

New Comment on "Who's Using the Toolkit"

http://apps.facebook.com/trystana
"Trystana" is a social dating platform that also integrates with social networking sites like Facebook to bring people together on their favorite social networks.
Facebook Application Profile: http://facebook.trystana.com

Updated Wiki: Home

Official Release: Version 3.0!

The main goals driving the release of version 3.0 were:
•	Provide better doc and samples
•	Provide support for Silverlight
•	Provide support for ASP.NET MVC
•	Provide improved support for WPF
•	Provide improved support for FBML (FBML Server Controls)
•	Provide a login control that can be used to replace the BasePage and/or MasterPage for Canvas Development
•	Improve out of the box support for Extended Permission Prompts
•	Refactor core source to improve maintainability and design
•	Fix known bugs
As part of this, we worked closely with the Concept Development Team at Microsoft to help design the Silverlight and WPF support.

FAQ
