Q: What version of the .NET Framework does the FDT support?
A: As of version 2.0, the FDT only supports .NET 3.5. Making this change allowed us to restructure our code so that we can better keep up with future changes. This may change at some point in the future (if you know of any good 2.0-compatible XML-to-object
parsers, let us know!), but for now, that's the current status.
If upgrading your application to 2.0 is not an option for you, you can still continue to use 1.7. No further updates will be made to it, but the functionality it includes is still largely compatible with the Facebook API.
Q: I'm getting an error, and I can't find anything about it in the FDT documentation. Where can I go for help?
A: You can ask other users questions on the Discussions tab of this site. Also, the official
Facebook Developer Wiki
should be the final word on any details of the platform.
Q: How can I contribute to the FDT?
A: Lots of ways:
- Answer user questions on the discussion forum.
- Report bugs in the toolkit in the issue tracker. If you're not sure if it's a bug or just a misunderstanding of the API, ask about it in the discussion forum first, and it can be escalated to the issue tracker if necessary. Also, please make sure
that any bugs reported were produced using either the most recent release, or a development build.
- Make suggestions for new features (again, in the issue tracker).
- Contribute patches for bugs or new features (Source Code tab -> Upload Patch). Make sure to include a short description of the issue being fixed, and preferably a work item number. Once it's uploaded, an FDT developer will take a look at it and merge
it into the source code (note that this process may change over time).
