Release Notes

This is the official release of 2.1. There is a bunch of work underway with Version 3.0. 3.0 will address a lot of needs for WPF and Silverlight. It will also address some refactoring/cleanup and include a bunch more samples and better doc. We expect 3.0 to be released this month. In the meantime, I wanted to get this release finalized.

We did make some simple cleanup to the existing user doc to try to make it easier to use.

Reviews for this release

what is wrong with this product??? is this some joke? every where on the internet there are 1000's of people crying about the "incorrect signature" error.... and this from 3 years ago till today. I still get this problem and this makes this product UNUSABLE! and nowhere is there a solution it seems. Why dont this get addressed properly in all the different versions?

Looks very nice but is essentially unusable out of the box since it cannot be easily mocked. Interfaces or base classes with virtual members please, it's not that hard.

Please try to stick to proper casing for a .net application. For example, namespaces are pascal cased NOT camel-cased. It should be FaceBook or Facebook NOT facebook. Standards exist for a reason, a good reason.

Getting lots of empty lists from API.cs, and a Javascript-initiated server-managed session requires a strange ss=1 param. status.get xsd assumes element "status" instead of "user_status". Overall this code needs a refresh.

Two files are missing from binary download. facebook.xml and facebook.web.xml. Found reference to these at http://devtacular.com/articles/bkonrad/how-to-use-the-facebook-developer-toolkit-20/ and this allowed compilation.

some bug in it. Please try to set long instead of int in publish.stream() for userid as last parameter. Also need more samples on feed and notifications.

We need more documentation and samples

The API is workable, but has quite a few different issues throughout and is very un-intuitive to use. Does not validate the fb_sig, which seems a little odd...

Needs to upgrade the user ID's to 64bit long PDQ but otherwise proved excellent

The sample worked to show me how a facebook app goes together, the tutorial is a great beginning place for first time FB devs. It seems there's been a lot of effort put into this library and it will save me many many hours.

The project has 2 distinct parts: a nice facebook api lib wrapper and 2 webform base classes for Page and MasterPage: one for IFrame mode and one for Canvas mode. The facebook api is configured by the webform base classes, which use querystring, response redirect to initialize a facebook session. The session is stored in either a session (preferred) or a cookie (has problem with iframes).

The sample doesn't work well. I've tried the sample FBMLCanvasSample and got an error "Could not load type 'FBMLSample.FBMLMaster'".

Does not work 'out of the tin'. Trying to get the FBMLCanvasSample to work and have run into multiple obscure problems including one which indicates missing components. Anyone know where FBMLSample.FBMLMaster is? If I had any hair, I'd be tearing it out.
